ASWAN
At 5:00 a.m., one of our employees will pick you up from your hotel in Marsa Alam and take you to Aswan in a modern, air-conditioned van. The city is about 4.5 hours from Marsa Alam.
We will first approach the temple of Philae, which is dedicated to the goddess Isis and which was completely dismantled and rebuilt on the island of Agilika after the completion of the Aswan dam. Afterwards we drive to the unfinished obelisk, which belongs to an unknown pharaoh and gives a very special insight into the construction of such works of art. The working techniques of the ancient Egyptians can be read on it, because the traces of old work equipment can still be seen on it, as well as the ocher-colored lines that show the worker how he had to work.
You will have lunch in a local restaurant. Then we drive to the dam, which was constructed in 1960 and finally completed in 1970. Its main task is to protect Egypt from the annual floods. At the same time it is also a water reservoir for the surrounding agriculture. We will make our way back to your hotel in Marsa Alam before 6 p.m.
