First Day “Asswan” :
At 5:00 a.m., one of our employees will pick you up from your hotel in Marsa Alam and take you to Aswan in a modern, air-conditioned van. The city is about 4.5 hours from Marsa Alam.
We will first approach the temple of Philae, which is dedicated to the goddess Isis and which was completely dismantled and rebuilt on the island of Agilika after the completion of the Aswan dam. Afterwards we drive to the unfinished obelisk, which belongs to an unknown pharaoh and gives a very special insight into the construction of such works of art. The working techniques of the ancient Egyptians can be read on it, because the traces of old work equipment can still be seen on it, as well as the ocher-colored lines that show the worker how he had to work.
You will have lunch in a local restaurant. Then we drive to the dam, which was constructed in 1960 and finally completed in 1970. Its main task is to protect Egypt from the annual floods. At the same time it is also a water reservoir for the surrounding agriculture.
Second Day “Abu Simpel” :
An early pick-up from your hotel in Aswan at 04: 00, travel by air-conditioned vehicle from Aswan to Abu Simbel, It takes 3 hours driving to the temples of Abu Simbel before the heat of the day.
The two temples were Carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC,
Upon arrival, an Egyptologist guide will tell you all about one of the greatest and most whimsical pharaohs in Egyptian history. Marvel at the main façade of the Great Temple to Ramesses II and its 4 statues of the pharaoh seated on his throne following his advancing age.
In theory, the main temple is dedicated to Amon-Re Horakhty and Ptah, but in practice, it was constructed for the greater glory of its builder, Ramses the Great. Continue to the smaller temple of Ramesses’ consort, Queen Nefertari, situated right next to the Great Temple. Admire the impressive rock-cut façade depicting the pharaoh and his queen. Re-board the coach at 09:00 for the return transfer to Aswan before, Lunch will be served in Aswan before your drive back to Marsa Alam
